We truly invest in our people. From initial induction through to leadership development, we support colleagues at every stage of their career.
This includes teaching qualifications for industry professionals, leadership development programmes and continuous professional development opportunities.
Across all pathways, we place a strong emphasis on self-leadership, leading people and teams, equipping our staff with the skills to make a meaningful impact across our group.
London South East Academies Trust Development Opportunities
Our Career Pathways provide clear, structured routes for progression across education and professional services, ensuring that every colleague can grow, develop and thrive within our family of organisations.
Whether starting as a Learning Support Assistant, Administrator or Apprentice, or progressing into teaching, specialist or leadership roles, our pathways are designed to support continuous professional development. Colleagues benefit from a rich programme of training, mentoring and qualifications—from entry-level apprenticeships through to advanced leadership and executive development.
Our pathways span across the Elevare Group:
- Teaching, Learning and Assessment (London South East Colleges) – supporting progression from support roles into lecturing, specialist teaching and curriculum leadership.
- Schools Pathway (London South East Academies Trust) – enabling development from classroom and pastoral roles through to senior leadership and headship.
- Central Services (across both organisations) – offering growth across professional services such as HR, finance, IT, estates and business development.

Apprenticeships for school staff
Apprenticeships are one of the most practical ways to develop colleagues across our schools. They allow staff to build skills, gain recognised qualifications and take on greater responsibility, all while staying in role and contributing day to day.
Why it works
Apprenticeships are rooted in the reality of school life. Learning is applied straight away, whether that is in the classroom, supporting pupils, leading teams or strengthening business functions. Colleagues build confidence quickly because development is not theoretical, it is part of their everyday work.
For the Trust, this means growing our own talent and creating clear pathways into teaching, leadership and specialist roles.
What we offer
We focus on apprenticeships that genuinely add value in schools and support progression over time. These include:
- Teaching Assistant and Specialist Teaching Assistant pathways
- Early Years Practitioner and Early Years Educator
- Learning and Skills Teacher for those moving into teaching roles
- School Business Professional and Business Administration
- HR, Finance and Accounts apprenticeships
- Coaching Professional and Learning & Development pathways
How it works in practice
Programmes are agreed with line managers so they fit alongside the role. Colleagues are given protected learning time and supported by experienced tutors and mentors.
We use apprenticeships as a core part of how we develop and retain great people. They provide a clear, funded route for colleagues to grow their careers within our schools, rather than looking elsewhere.
